AS3 NEW ALBUM “TWENTY | TWENTY” NOW AVAILABLE

“Twenty | Twenty”, the new album from AS3, was released on December 27th 2020 and is now available on Bandcamp by clicking here

Featuring Andrew Stern on guitar, Brad Barrett on bass and Dave Fox on drums, the album is a deep, personal reflection on the year that was. From Andrew:

Back in October, I felt the urge to put 2020 into music before year's end.  With tremendous talents from my brothers Brad Barrett and Dave Fox, here is "Twenty | Twenty". We all have a lot of feelings about this past year and everything it has entailed. I don't know if this will make any difference, or if this counts as "doing our part", but hopefully this will mean something to somebody, somewhere, sometime.  I know it will to us, especially as the years pass and we look back to this as a memory of a strange and unfortunate time.”

  • REMEMBERING DAVID ARTEAGA 1959-2020

    REMEMBERING DAVID ARTEAGA 1959-2020

am very sad to share the news that my great friend and musician David Arteaga passed away in October.

In addition to being a brilliantly unique musician and composer, David was also a generous, kind and giving soul. He was an all-around incredible, selfless human and it was my honor to be a member of his quartet “The DAQ” and share in his art and music.

He was a friend to all and we will no doubt gather to celebrate his life and music at some point. My deepest condolences to his family, his friends and the Boston Jazz Community.

It’s hard not to think of David right now in his element at the The Lily Pad playing one of his MANY original compositions (he had his own book of original songs and arrangements all uniquely....David!). He took every “house band” opportunity to try something new, learn, grow and pushed the house band to follow and be along for the ride as well. He was a 100% committed to the DAQ leaving the “comfort zone” by reading a new composition or trying a new arrangement of an old standard.

His biggest sense of pride, however, was the community of both familiar and unfamiliar faces that participated in the jam. He welcomed all into this positive, open community that he created and sincerely loved each and every person that showed up.

It’s been great to hear how many of those who knew David want to keep the jazz jam and community going in David’s honor. We will continue to build on what he created.

Below have a listen to David’s composition “Nidra” from the 2017 DAQ Release “Picture” featuring Plamen Karadonev on piano, Max Ridley on bass and myself on drums.

    Rest in Peace Brother
